In the late afternoon hours of a December day in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, a heated argument between two men escalated into a fatal encounter. Brandy Crutchfield, a 29-year-old male, was in the parking lot of an apartment complex on South Olive Street when the dispute turned violent. On December 17, 2018, the sound of gunshots echoed through the area, and when police arrived at approximately 4:45 p.m., they discovered Crutchfield suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
