On December 29, 2018, at approximately 4:15 a.m., North Little Rock police officers responded to reports of a person lying in the roadway in the 2900 block of Old Pike Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 19-year-old Wesley M. Everett suffering from a gunshot wound. Everett was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. His death marked the city's 16th homicide of 2018.
