In the early evening of June 14, 2021, the life of 34-year-old Terra N. Horton, a Black female from Little Rock, Arkansas, was tragically cut short. Responding to reports of a shooting at approximately 8 p.m. in the 3300 block of West Roosevelt Road, Little Rock police officers arrived to find a grim scene. Horton was discovered suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services were promptly rendered, and she was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, she succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation into Horton's death quickly gained momentum as witnesses at the scene provided crucial information to the authorities. They described the suspect's vehicle as a red Kia, a detail that proved instrumental in the swift apprehension of a person of interest. Acting on this lead, officers located the vehicle and took the driver, 24-year-old Keithra Guyton, into custody.
Following her apprehension, Guyton was charged with capital murder and the unlawful discharge of a firearm in connection with Horton's death. She was subsequently booked into the Pulaski County jail, where she was held without bond. The motive for the shooting was not immediately released to the public. The tragic event left Horton's family and friends to mourn the loss of a woman remembered as a beloved daughter, mother, and sister. Her funeral services were held on June 26, 2021, at the New Hope Baptist Church in North Little Rock, where loved ones gathered to pay their final respects.
