In the early morning hours of June 17, 2022, in West Memphis, Arkansas, the life of two-year-old Jadaka Warren Jimerson was tragically cut short. The young male was the unintended victim of a drive-by shooting. Jadaka and his mother were inside their home when the residence was targeted in the attack.
Emergency services were called to the scene around 1:15 a.m. following reports of the shooting.
By the time they arrived, Jadaka and his mother had already been transported to a local hospital. Tragically, the young boy was pronounced dead. His mother sustained injuries but was expected to survive after being transferred to another medical facility for further treatment. Neighbors later reported that the house had been shot at on two separate occasions that same day, indicating a targeted act of violence that ultimately claimed an innocent life.
In the wake of the devastating event, the West Memphis Police Department launched an intensive investigation. Their efforts led to the arrests of two teenagers, 19-year-old Jerome Patterson and 18-year-old Johnny Warren. Both individuals were charged with capital murder in connection with Jadaka's death. In addition to the murder charge, Patterson and Warren each face one count of battery and thirteen counts of committing a terroristic act. Law enforcement officials vowed to continue their investigation until everyone involved in the 'senseless murder' of Jadaka Jimmerson was brought to justice, including anyone who may have aided the primary suspects or hindered the investigation.
