In the summer of 2022, a tragic event unfolded in West Memphis, Arkansas, forever altering the lives of one family and the local community. On the evening of June 21st, 27-year-old Chartarious Jones, a Black male, was discovered inside a vehicle in the 1600 block of East Barton Road. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The quiet street was suddenly the center of a homicide investigation, as West Memphis police began the arduous task of piecing together the events that led to this violent act.

The investigation into the death of Chartarious Jones continued for nearly two months before a significant break in the case occurred. In mid-August, the West Memphis Police Department announced the arrests of two local men, 21-year-old Tayshaun Worles and 18-year-old Vincent Williams. Both men were taken into custody and booked into the Crittenden County jail, facing a litany of serious charges related to the incident.

The charges brought against Worles and Williams were extensive and painted a grim picture of the circumstances surrounding Jones's death. They included capital murder, kidnapping, aggravated assault, residential burglary, theft of property, and terroristic acts. Despite these arrests, the investigation was not considered closed. Authorities indicated that a third individual was believed to be involved in the murder and remained at large. The identity of this third suspect has not been publicly released as the search for them continues. The case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of gun violence, leaving a family to mourn the loss of a young life taken too soon.
