On September 5, 1980, Trooper Frederick Glen Bailey of the Arkansas State Police was fatally shot during a high-speed pursuit near West Memphis, Arkansas. At approximately 43 years old, Trooper Bailey attempted to stop a vehicle traveling over 100 mph near the interchange of I-55 and I-40.
