On May 20, 2010, Sergeant Robert Brandon Paudert, a 39-year-old officer with the West Memphis Police Department in Arkansas, was fatally shot during a traffic stop on Interstate 40. Paudert, who had served with the department for seven years and was assigned to the Drug Interdiction Unit, was the son of the West Memphis Chief of Police.
