On a cold January day in 1958, the life of a 16-year-old White / Caucasian female named Carol J. King was tragically cut short in Bennet, Nebraska. She was an unwitting victim of a deadly crime spree orchestrated by Charles Starkweather and his young companion, Caril Ann Fugate. The pair had already left a trail of violence, having murdered Fugate's own family members and another local man before their fateful encounter with King.
