On July 26, 1993, in Phillips, Nebraska, 33-year-old Kathleen K. Saner Brandon and her husband, 55-year-old Clyde Lee Brandon, tragically lost their lives to gun violence. The couple had been involved in a legal dispute over the ownership of thoroughbred racehorses with a man named Jerome Goc. To resolve the matter, they arranged to meet Goc at his residence to retrieve the horses and sign mutual releases.
