On a cold January evening in Omaha, Nebraska, the life of 42-year-old Laura Pierce was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence. On January 2, 2009, while working her shift as an assistant manager at a Kwik Shop, two individuals entered the store with the intention of committing a robbery. During the course of the crime, Pierce was shot and fatally wounded. The perpetrators fled the scene, leaving behind a community in shock and a family to grieve an immeasurable loss.
