Jared Hall, a 36-year-old White man, was fatally shot in his hometown of Ridgeley, West Virginia, on the evening of November 26, 2024. Deputies with the Mineral County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 9:48 p.m. report of shots fired at a residence located at 1320 Old Furnace Road. Upon arrival, they discovered Mr. Hall had sustained a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Mineral County Medical Examiner Chris Guynn.
The investigation quickly led authorities to identify a suspect. Crystal Lynn Kammauff, a 36-year-old woman who was also a resident of Ridgeley, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting.
Following her arrest, Kammauff was ordered to be held without bond at the Potomac Highlands Regional
Jail. The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the incident with assistance from the West Virginia State Police.
Investigators obtained search warrants from the magistrate's office on the morning after the shooting as part of their ongoing efforts. As of late November 2024, the case was proceeding through the legal system.
