In a tragic turn of events, the body of 59-year-old Steven Curtis Waln, a male resident of Largo, Florida, was discovered on December 8, 2024, in the wooded expanse of the Hamilton Creek Recreation Area off Bell Road in Nashville, Tennessee. An apparent gunshot wound was the cause of his death, prompting the Metro Nashville Police Department to launch a homicide investigation.
Waln, a White/Caucasian man, had been reported missing in Franklin, Tennessee, on December 9, 2024, a day after his body was found. He was an employee at the Harpeth Hotel in downtown Franklin.
Born on March 3, 1965, Steven was known as a devoted Christian who found joy in exploring Florida, water skiing, and cooking. He was a graduate of Lake Brantley High School. In the wake of his death, his employer expressed their grief and closed a hotel pop-up early to allow the staff time to mourn.
