On a late Monday afternoon, the community of Lugoff, South Carolina, was shaken by a violent encounter that left two men dead. On December 2, 2024, at the Lexington Grand Apartments on Roy Truesdale Road, 22-year-old Tasheed Sutton and his 40-year-old uncle, Kevin Sutton, were fatally shot. The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office received a call about multiple gunshot victims around 5:30 p.m.
and, along with state law enforcement, arrived at the scene within minutes to find both men had already succumbed to their injuries.
Investigators quickly determined that the shooting was not a random act of violence, stating that all individuals involved were acquainted with one another. Surveillance footage from the apartment complex reportedly captured an altercation between the Suttons and two other men that escalated to the deadly shooting. This evidence was crucial in helping authorities identify the suspects involved in the double homicide. The incident prompted an immediate search of the area, but law enforcement believed the suspects had fled.
Within days, the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office issued arrest warrants for murder for two teenagers, 19-year-old Bobby Bernard Elijah Stuckey III and 18-year-old Jamiyan L. Blair. A manhunt for the two suspects ensued. The search came to an end when Stuckey turned himself in to the Kershaw County Detention Center. Blair was apprehended shortly after in Henderson County, North Carolina. Both were charged in connection with the deaths of Tasheed and Kevin Sutton. Sheriff Lee Boan credited tips from the community and the cooperation between different law enforcement agencies for the swift arrests of the suspects.
