On the evening of November 18, 2024, tragedy struck a neighborhood in Portland, Oregon, forever altering the lives of one family. Mark A. Holley, a 35-year-old Black / African American male, was in the Wilkes neighborhood when his life was cut short. At approximately 5:46 p.m., officers from the North Precinct were dispatched to the 15900 block of Northeast Fremont Street following reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr.
Holley at the scene, having succumbed to his injuries.
The subsequent investigation by the Portland Police Bureau and the Oregon State Medical Examiner confirmed the devastating truth. An autopsy determined that Mark Holley’s death was a homicide, caused by a gunshot wound. The news sent ripples of grief through his family and community. Those who knew him described him as a genuine and kind individual who played an integral role in their lives. His stepdaughter fondly remembered him as a man who was always there for them, a constant source of support who was just a phone call away.
