On the morning of November 20, 2024, at approximately 7:15 a.m., Portland Police officers responded to reports of a shooting at a hotel in the 8200 block of Northeast Sandy Boulevard. Upon arrival, they discovered 43-year-old Kimo A. Henriques of Vancouver, Washington, in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Oregon State Medical Examiner later confirmed that Henriques died from a homicide caused by a gunshot wound. Following the incident, the Portland Police Bureau's Special Emergency Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team conducted a tactical search of the hotel. By 1:13 p.m., one individual was detained for further investigation. However, as of the latest available information, no arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Henriques' family has been notified of his death and has requested privacy during this time. The Portland Police Bureau continues to seek information from the public to aid in their investigation.
