On December 21, 2024, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Columbus police responded to reports of a shooting near Tussing Elementary School, located in the 7000 block of Tussing Road in southeast Columbus. Upon arrival, officers found 21-year-old Vance Edward Stiers suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Mount Carmel East Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:52 p.m.
