According to Messiah's mother, Danielle Blount, her son was an innocent bystander observing a fight between two girls when shots were fired, and he was struck by a stray bullet. In connection with the shooting, Monroe Police arrested a 17-year-old male, charging him as an adult with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and discharging a firearm into occupied property.
