On December 7, 2024, a tragic incident unfolded in Monroe, North Carolina, resulting in the death of 12-year-old Messiah Barrino. Around 6:30 p.m., Monroe Police responded to reports of a large street fight on Skywatch Lane. Upon arrival, officers found Messiah with a gunshot wound; he was transported to a Charlotte-area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. A 15-year-old was also injured in the shooting and remains hospitalized, expected to recover.
