Alvin Edwin Brewer, a 42-year-old African American man from Monroe, North Carolina, tragically passed away on January 26, 2020. He was shot and killed in Monroe, NC, after being involved in a fight on Commerce Drive. According to witnesses, Brewer was engaged in a physical altercation with a light-skinned man when another individual, later identified as Jakaiy Hammonds, stepped in and fired multiple shots, ultimately leading to Brewer's death.
