Steven Clifton Smith, a 28-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on May 2, 2015, in Monroe, North Carolina. This incident marked the first murder of the year in Monroe. The shooting occurred early in the morning on Green Street, where Smith was gunned down multiple times.
