On June 24, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Monroe Police Department officers responded to a shooting incident on North Secrest Avenue in Monroe, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered two teenagers with gunshot wounds: 17-year-old Jadyn Charles Rowdy, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and 18-year-old Jontavis Hood, who was transported to a local hospital and was expected to survive his injuries.
