In the a violent weekend for New Orleans, 18-year-old Wayne Eric Orsin was killed on Saturday, November 30, 2024. Orsin and 31-year-old Rashada Richardson were both fatally shot in what was reported as a double homicide. The shooting occurred in an apartment complex in the Westlake Forest neighborhood.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office later identified Orsin and Richardson as the victims of the fatal shooting which took place in the 6700 block of Tara Lane.
The incident was part of a particularly violent holiday weekend in the city, which saw multiple shootings and fatalities.
A few days following the shooting, the New Orleans Police Department made arrests in connection with the double homicide. Two suspects, 18-year-old Daryl Fairley Jr. and 19-year-old Cornelius Tilman, were taken into custody. Both men are facing two counts of second-degree murder for their alleged involvement in the deaths of Orsin and Richardson. The arrests brought a swift development to a case that had contributed to a weekend of heightened gun violence in the city.
