A Christmas day dispute in Kentwood, Louisiana, escalated to a fatal shooting, resulting in the death of 28-year-old Deshawn D. Roberts of Osyka, Mississippi. The incident occurred on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, outside the 4-Way Quick Stop convenience store on Avenue E.
Authorities reported that Roberts was engaged in an argument with another man, identified as Demarcus Blount, inside the store. The confrontation moved outside, at which point both men were said to have drawn firearms.
Investigators determined that Blount was the only one to discharge his weapon, firing at Roberts.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and Roberts was transported to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound. He later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Following the shooting, Blount fled the scene but was later apprehended during a traffic stop conducted by law enforcement. He was arrested in connection with the death of Deshawn Roberts. Both men were reportedly visiting Kentwood from Mississippi at the time of the incident.
