In the early morning hours of a Sunday in late June, the sounds of city life in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn were pierced by an act of violence that claimed the life of 34-year-old Tahriq Thompson. On June 29, 2025, at approximately 3 a.m., Thompson was near the corner of Riverdale Avenue and Osborn Street when he was struck by a bullet. The single gunshot wound to his right arm proved to be fatal.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene and rushed Thompson to Brookdale University Hospital. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, he could not be saved and was pronounced dead.
