On March 20, 2023, at approximately 1:10 p.m., 26-year-old Brooklyn resident Dion Reid was fatally shot outside Francena Mini Market, located at 1608 Sterling Place in Crown Heights. Reid sustained gunshot wounds to his torso and right foot. Despite being rushed to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County, he succumbed to his injuries.
