In the early evening of December 3, 2024, the life of 49-year-old Lavaughn E. Lewis, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in Topeka, Kansas. At approximately 5:19 p.m., officers from the Topeka Police Department were dispatched to the 2000 block of Southwest 12th Street following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Lewis with life-threatening injuries from a gunshot wound.
