On a somber Christmas Eve in Atlanta, the promising life of 18-year-old Sekya Smith was tragically cut short. The African American teenager, a standout basketball player at Carver High School, was fatally shot in what has been described as a drive-by shooting. The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. in the 1100 block of Smith Street SW in the city's Pittsburgh neighborhood, a location not far from her own home. Smith was visiting a friend when the gunfire erupted.
