On the night of February 18, 2016, in Phoenix, Arizona, a burst of gunfire shattered the evening calm and tragically ended the life of 17-year-old Demetric Tremayne Carter, a Black male. The fatal encounter unfolded at approximately 11:00 p.m. in a parking lot located at 234 West Southern Avenue. Carter was seated in the front seat of a vehicle with two other young men when they were ambushed.
