In Phoenix, Arizona, a life was tragically cut short in the parking lot of an apartment complex. Marquise Maston, a 32-year-old Black male, was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound on the evening of December 23, 2024. The incident occurred near Camelback Road and 39th Avenue, shattering the calm of the neighborhood. Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find Maston in a dire state.
He was immediately transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Marquise Maston's condition deteriorated, and he ultimately succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. As detectives began their investigation into the homicide, they learned that a possible suspect might still be in the vicinity of the apartment complex where the shooting took place. This information led officers to a specific apartment within the same complex where they located the individual believed to be responsible.
The suspect taken into custody was a 16-year-old male. He was found hiding inside one of the apartments at the complex. Following his arrest, the teenager was booked into the Juvenile Corrections Center. He is now facing a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the death of Marquise Maston. While an arrest has been made, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting remains ongoing as authorities work to determine a motive for the crime.
