On a Tuesday night in Phoenix, Arizona, a seemingly ordinary evening took a tragic turn for 16-year-old Mohamad Shah Bin Salim. While inside a car with his 21-year-old friend at a convenience store located near 59th Avenue and Bethany Home Road, a fatal encounter unfolded. It was on February 12, 2019, when a single shot pierced the night air, striking the young man.
His friend, initially fearing a flat tire, quickly realized the grave reality of the situation upon discovering a hole in
the rear window and his friend's subsequent statement that he wasn't feeling well. Rushed to a local hospital, Mohamad Shah Bin Salim succumbed to his injuries later that same night. The incident stemmed from an apparent road rage altercation that began when the vehicle he was in drove in front of another car at the convenience store.
Following the shooting, an investigation was launched by the Phoenix Police Department. Their efforts led to the identification and arrest of a suspect in connection with the senseless act of violence. The individual taken into custody was identified as 19-year-old Eduardo Rodriguez Madera.
