On the night of December 6, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred at the Point Escambia Apartments in Atmore, Alabama, resulting in the death of 32-year-old Rakeem "Rock" Phillips. At approximately 10:55 p.m., Atmore Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting and found Phillips suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was initially transported to Atmore Community Hospital and later airlifted to a trauma center, where he succumbed to his injuries on December 8.
