On January 3, 2023, at approximately 6:02 PM, Dallas police officers responded to a reported shooting in the 2600 block of Walnut Hill Lane. Upon arrival, they discovered 35-year-old Clayton Hartfield Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite prompt medical attention, Hartfield succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Hartfield had been involved in a physical altercation with 23-year-old Justin Blocker.
The confrontation escalated, culminating in Blocker fatally shooting Hartfield. Subsequently, Blocker was arrested and charged with murder. He was booked into the Dallas County jail on January 4, 2023. At the time of his booking, Blocker's bond had not been set, and court records did not list an attorney representing him.
