On June 5, 2023, at approximately 12:20 a.m., Dallas police officers responded to a shooting incident in the 6000 block of C.F. Hawn Freeway, near the Trinity River Audubon Center and Crawford Memorial Park. Upon arrival, they discovered a vehicle that had crashed near the westbound lanes. Inside the driver's seat was 49-year-old Clifton Morris, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that Morris had been shot before his vehicle veered off the freeway. The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or motives associated with the case.
