On June 9, 2024, at approximately 10:45 PM, Dallas police responded to a shooting in the 100 block of N. Masters Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered 18-year-old Kevin Hernandez lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigations revealed that two males in an SUV had entered the convenience store parking lot and confronted Hernandez. After the confrontation, the suspects fled the scene.
On June 20, 2024, police arrested 19-year-old Jamarion White in connection with the murder. White, identified as a member of the 65 Groveside criminal street gang, was found in possession of multiple firearms equipped with illegal "Glock switches," devices that convert semi-automatic pistols into fully automatic weapons. These devices can be easily manufactured using 3D printers and installed in under a minute.
Subsequently, on July 2, 2024, a 15-year-old suspect was also arrested and charged with murder in connection to Hernandez's death. Due to the suspect's juvenile status, authorities have withheld his identity.
The arrests of White and the juvenile suspect highlight the ongoing issue of gun violence and the proliferation of illegal firearm modifications in the Dallas area. Law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Hernandez's death, urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
