On the morning of September 27, 2024, at approximately 8:25 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting incident in the 1700 block of Overhill Lane in the East Oak Cliff neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered 36-year-old Zachary James Jr. seated in the front seat of his 2019 Toyota Corolla, suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. Dallas Fire-Rescue promptly transported him to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on September 28, 2024.
