The circumstances surrounding Leard's death remain unclear. His vehicle, a blue Nissan Rogue, and cellphone were missing from the scene.
Approximately 24 hours later, the SUV was located several miles away with a broken driver's side window and the key in the ignition.
Leard's family has expressed concerns that his murder may have been a targeted attack due to his sexuality. His sister, Joslin, believes he may have met his assailant through a dating app, raising fears within the LGBTQIA+ community about potential dangers associated with online platforms.
