David Colunga, a 46-year-old man from San Antonio, Texas, was fatally shot outside his home on the evening of November 10, 2019. Colunga was outside his residence on Shemya Avenue when he was shot multiple times, collapsing in his driveway. He was quickly transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The San Antonio Police Department identified Gabriel Matthew Montoya, a 30-year-old man, as the suspect in Colunga's murder.
Montoya was arrested and charged with murder shortly after the incident. Investigators found several bullet casings at the scene and a white sports car seen speeding away from the area, which led to Montoya's arrest.
Montoya's case went to trial, and he was indicted by a Bexar County Grand Jury for the shooting death of David Colunga. During the investigation, police found a 9 millimeter handgun and several shell casings in Montoya's vehicle, further linking him to the crime. The case is still pending in the 187th District Court.
