In the early morning hours of February 4, 2024, the quiet of a West Haven, Connecticut street was broken by the discovery of a gravely wounded man. Hector Fabián Domínguez, a 44-year-old Hispanic male, was found on Campbell Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds. First responders arrived at the scene around 2:00 a.m. and quickly transported him to a nearby hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life.
Tragically, his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
The incident was immediately investigated as a homicide, with West Haven police dedicating significant resources to unraveling the events that led to the fatal shooting. As the investigation progressed, detectives were able to identify a suspect in the case. Their work led them to Eric Johnson, a 33-year-old resident of the neighboring city of New Haven.
Following a thorough investigation, an arrest was made in connection with the death of Domínguez. Eric Johnson was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with murder and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
