On June 29, 2023, 16-year-old Junior Diaz was fatally shot at the Carriage House Apartments in Odessa, Texas. Diaz, visiting from North Carolina, was among a group that had convened in the apartment complex's parking lot for an illegal firearm transaction. Surveillance footage revealed that three individuals approached the vehicle occupied by Diaz and others; two of them, identified as 18-year-old Kannin Shorter and a 16-year-old known as "K-SO," opened fire into the vehicle, resulting in Diaz's ...
