Following his death, Odessa police launched an investigation which led to the arrest of three individuals: Exzebia Terry, Morgan Christina Garrett, and Tiayana Marie Dixon. Terry, who was 22 years old at the time, was arrested by U.S.
Marshals in Dallas, while Garrett and Dixon were also taken into custody. The investigation revealed that the trio was involved in a drug transaction with Minear when Terry fired multiple shots at him, leading to his death.
The case was prosecuted by Scott Turner and Melissa Williams, with Jason Leach representing the defendant. Exzebia Terry eventually pled guilty to the murder of Jordan Minear.
