Jesse Sanchez, a 52-year-old Hispanic male, tragically passed away on October 31, 2021, in Odessa, Texas. He was born on December 26, 1968, in San Antonio del Bravo, Mexico, and later moved to Odessa, where he lived with his spouse, Gabriela Franco. Jesse was a beloved father, husband, and brother, leaving behind two daughters, one sister, four brothers, and three grandchildren.
On the night of his death, Jesse was at Agave Bar before leaving and heading to his car.
Just after 1:30 a.m., he was shot in the parking lot at 4555 E University Boulevard. Investigators determined that Jesse was shot while walking to his car, and he was quickly taken to Medical Center Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation led to the arrest of two suspects, Cristian Escarcega, 24, and Martin Monge Hernandez, 19. Both were charged with murder and evading arrest. The suspects were found in a Nissan Altima, which was pursued by the Odessa Police Department and the Ector County Sheriff’s Office. Inside the vehicle, investigators discovered an AR-15 style rifle and a handgun, which matched the shell casings found at the scene.
Cristian Escarcega was convicted by an Ector County jury and sentenced to life in prison. Martin Monge Hernandez is expected to face a jury in late March. The case has drawn significant attention, and the legal proceedings continue as the community seeks justice for Jesse Sanchez.
Jesse's death has left a profound impact on his family and friends, who remember him fondly and continue to honor his memory.
