On August 10, 2023, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Montgomery County Constable Precinct 5 deputies observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in Magnolia, Texas. When they attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle failed to yield and eventually stopped at a residence located in the 30900 block of Allene Drive. During the detention of the vehicle's occupants, the passenger informed deputies that their father was deceased inside the house, which explained their erratic driving.
Deputies entered the residence and discovered 67-year-old Donald Hayslip with an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Detectives, along with Crime Scene Investigators, were called to assist Precinct 5 Constables in conducting the shooting investigation.
As of the latest available information, the investigation remains active. Authorities have indicated that the incident appears to be isolated, with no threat to the public. No arrests have been reported, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
