Miguel Angel Flores-Delarosa, a 37-year-old Hispanic man, tragically lost his life on December 6, 2020, in Magnolia, Texas. Flores-Delarosa was the owner of a taqueria stand and was working at a portable storage building behind a food trailer when the incident occurred. He and his common-law wife were confronted by two armed men who demanded money and cell phones.
During the robbery, Flores-Delarosa was fatally shot by one of the assailants.
The suspect, James Louis Barnes, an 18-year-old from Magnolia, was charged with capital murder in connection with Flores-Delarosa's death. Barnes was already in custody at the Montgomery County Jail on unrelated charges of aggravated robbery and marijuana possession at the time of the shooting. He was arrested on a warrant for these charges on the same day he allegedly killed Flores-Delarosa. Barnes was later found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office indicated that there may be additional charges filed against Barnes and another individual involved in the crime. The investigation revealed that Barnes had been involved in an aggravated robbery just hours before the shooting. The sheriff's office also noted that Barnes faced charges for deadly conduct with a firearm from a previous incident in 2019.
