Robert G. Jackson-Wright Jr., 28, a Black male from Milwaukee, was shot and killed on the morning of December 28, 2021. Shortly before 8 a.m., police were called to the area near North 85th Street and West Congress Street, by the Lindsay Park neighborhood on the city’s northwest side. First reports said little about what led up to the gunfire, only that the victim was found with fatal injuries and that detectives were piecing together the moments before the shots rang out.

Public memorial pages later identified him by name, matching the date, place, and age with notices shared by family and the funeral home. While death announcements used gentle phrasing about his passing, community and gun-violence records marked the loss plainly as a homicide by gunfire. From the outset, Milwaukee police said they were seeking unknown suspects in the shooting.
