On September 30, 2023, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Dallas police responded to a shooting incident in the 900 block of Medalist Drive. Upon arrival, officers encountered a woman who had been shot; she had managed to leave the scene to seek assistance. Inside the residence, they discovered two men with their hands bound. One of them, identified as 30-year-old Deleon Williams, had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other man was unharmed.

The investigation led to the identification of two suspects. On October 3, 2023, 28-year-old Kayla Griffin was apprehended in Bloomfield, New Mexico, and charged with capital murder. Subsequently, on July 2, 2024, a capital murder warrant was issued for 33-year-old Quanticus Rucker, who was already incarcerated at the Richmond Correctional Institution in Hoffman, North Carolina, on unrelated charges.

According to reports, Griffin and Rucker are accused of forcibly entering the residence, binding the occupants with electrical cords, and demanding valuables. During the incident, they allegedly shot Williams fatally and injured the female victim, who later recovered. The second male victim was physically unharmed.

Both suspects now face capital murder charges as the legal process continues. The Dallas Police Department has not disclosed further details regarding the motive or the relationship between the suspects and victims. The investigation remains active as authorities seek to piece together the events leading up to this tragic incident.
