Jesus Benito Canales, a 43-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically died on July 26, 2021, in Dallas, Texas. He was found in the parking lot of Lupita Café on Oates Road with a gunshot wound at around 2:19 a.m. Dallas Fire-Rescue pronounced him deceased at the scene. Witnesses reported that the suspect fled the scene in a dark grey or charcoal pickup truck.
The motive and circumstances surrounding the homicide are still under investigation.
Detectives from the Dallas Police Department have identified Emanuel Garcia, a 35-year-old male, as a person of interest in the case. Garcia was arrested in Nolan County, Texas, about three hours west of Dallas, and is facing a murder charge. He was booked into the Nolan County jail and is awaiting extradition to Dallas County. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are still trying to determine the motive behind the shooting.
