On October 14, 2023, 29-year-old Mackenzie Christopher Chastang was fatally shot in an apartment on Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, Texas. The incident occurred around 7:03 a.m., when police responded to a report of an injured person and found Chastang with a gunshot wound to the chest; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
