On October 28, 2023, a tragic incident unfolded in Texarkana, Texas, resulting in the death of 30-year-old Alqadis Williams. The event occurred during a party held in the back room of a business located in the 700 block of N. Stateline Avenue. A physical altercation between two men escalated when at least two individuals brandished rifles and began shooting, leading to a chaotic scene with multiple victims.
In addition to Williams, 26-year-old Deandre Fezell died at the scene, and 22-year-old Jayla Hampton succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Three other individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries; at least one has since been released from medical care. The Texarkana Texas Police Department immediately launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible for the shootings.
Initially, authorities issued an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Breoskii Warren on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Warren was considered a suspect in the shootings and was actively sought by law enforcement. Subsequently, Warren turned himself in to the police. Another individual, 20-year-old Devon Hayden, was also arrested after receiving treatment at a local hospital for injuries sustained during the incident.
By January 2024, both Warren and Hayden faced formal charges related to the shooting. Warren was indicted on two counts of manslaughter, while Hayden faced a first-degree murder charge. These charges followed a comprehensive investigation into the events of that night, as authorities worked to piece together the sequence of actions that led to the fatalities and injuries.
The community of Texarkana was deeply affected by this tragic event, mourning the loss of three young individuals whose lives were abruptly ended.
