On January 9, 2024, 18-year-old Marcus Chavez was fatally shot in San Antonio, Texas. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the Westway Apartments located in the 5600 block of Culebra Road, near Callaghan Road.
Chavez and his girlfriend had returned from a shopping trip and were at her apartment to drop off their purchases. As they sat in their vehicle, two men dressed in black approached and opened fire.
Chavez was struck multiple times in the chest, while his girlfriend sustained minor injuries, possibly from a bullet graze or shattered glass. Chavez was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The assailants fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Despite a search of the area, including aerial support from a police helicopter, the suspects were not located. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the identities of the suspects remain unknown. The San Antonio Police Department continues to investigate the case, urging anyone with information to come forward.
