On July 6, 2020, Andres Vega, a 35-year-old man from San Antonio, TX, was shot and killed during a child custody exchange. Vega and his wife went to pick up her child from the child's father, Alejandro Vargas, at a home on Rogers Avenue near New Braunfels Avenue. During the exchange, a verbal altercation ensued between Vega and Vargas. The situation escalated when Vargas pulled out a gun and shot Vega multiple times, resulting in Vega's death at the scene.
