On February 18, 2024, 17-year-old Thaddeus Eugene Conway Jackson was fatally shot near the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. San Antonio Police responded to reports of a shooting around 1:20 p.m. in the 3700 block of Binz Engleman Road. Upon arrival, officers found Jackson in the parking lot with gunshot wounds to his neck and jaw; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation led to the arrest of 18-year-old Octavious Tomrion Galloway, who was charged with Jackson's murder. Witnesses reported that prior to the shooting, Galloway, Jackson, and others had returned from a store to the apartment complex where the incident occurred. Galloway allegedly shot Jackson multiple times upon their return. A witness provided video evidence showing Jackson on the ground and Galloway being pulled away by another individual. Multiple 9 mm shell casings were recovered at the scene.
Initially, individuals attempted to mislead investigators about Galloway's whereabouts; however, he was located approximately six hours after the shooting in a vehicle connected to the scene. Galloway denied being present at the time of the shooting, claiming he was at his mother's boyfriend's house. Despite his denial, witness testimonies and video evidence placed him at the scene. Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the shooting.
Galloway was taken into custody and charged with murder. He was booked into Bexar County Jail with bond set at $150,000.
